The road to Carbon neutrality, autonomous driving, and the NEV industry are the focus of many corporate bosses who are also deputies to China’s National People’s Congress. Some have submitted proposals to the annual sessions of National People's Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), also known as Two Sessions, China’s annual policy meetings.

LEI Jun, founder and chairman of Xiaomi, suggests the government establish a national carbon accounting system for NEVs. More than 20 industries in China have set up carbon accounting, NEVs not among them.

Lei’s proposal would establish a database to manage, certify and verify carbon production more accurately. He also wants to see more fast-charging poles. Of public charging poles in China, only 40 percent are for NEVs, and their capacity is low. Innovation platforms should be organized to crack technological barriers and better recycling of electronic waste will be of great value to the country’s carbon naturality plan.

Baidu CEO Robin Li’s proposals cover AI, smart traffic, and autonomous driving, the business sectors Baidu is focused on. Li has made suggestions regarding smart traffic for the past seven years. Li calls for more 5G infrastructure. He also wants new regulations to encourage autonomous driving.

Qihoo 360 boss ZHOU Hongyi highlighted technology, warning of serious data security risks as internet of vehicles (IoV) becomes an important part of China’s digital transformation. Zhou suggests building a safety management system to help traditional businesses in their transformations.
